2021 BLOG POSTS WRAPPED!

Happy New Year everyone! Wow, what a year it has been too. From lockdown, to prepping for shows that I eventually pulled out from due to Covid, to focusing on our clients and business, this is your 2021 wrapped! Every New Year that comes and goes is always a time for reflection. I always think about where I see myself in the next year, what I want to achieve, what goals I want to strive towards (personal and performance wise), what new things I would like to try and I always think of future clients who will be transforming themselves with Kostalas Coaching. It’s crazy to think that the 27th March 2021 was the day I started writing these blog posts and I have a written a blog post every week since then, that is exactly 41 blog posts in total to date, today being the 42nd. Looking at the stats, and which ones were read the most, here is a summary of the top 5 of 2021.

I started writing blog posts because I wanted to help people, ordinary people, people that weren’t necessarily my clients but anyone that needed that extra help, whether that involved anything to do with training, nutrition, or general lifestyle topics. Anything that could help anyone improve themselves, their body and their mindsets. So, in case you didn’t notice already, each blog post has a specific focus and comes under those 3 headings: Training, Nutrition and Lifestyle. I wanted the training foci to encourage people to start weight training. Providing useful tips for techniques on compound exercises and to remove any fear of trying something like weight training, I was a beginner once too! For my nutrition blog posts, I wanted to build awareness that dieting really doesn’t need to be a case of starving yourself, eliminating carbs or being on really low calories. I wanted to build awareness and promote what REALLY WORKS, to save people time making silly dieting mistakes or going round in the same food cycle of undereating and overeating. My lifestyle posts are mainly to make people aware that most of the time, the food itself is not necessarily the problem, but more to do with lifestyle habits. Changing daily lifestyle habits are sometimes the biggest step to make towards consistency and changing your ways towards living a more healthy lifestyle, in order to succeed. I just want to help people in every possible way I can so they can be HAPPY. HAPPY IN THEMSELVES.

So, here are the top 5:

AT NUMBER 5 (NUTRITION): THE MOST COMMON DIET MISTAKES REVEALED: MY BEST TOP TIPS TO SUCCEED

There’s no wonder this one was read a lot, considering people are always trying to find ways to diet, yet they continuously make mistakes. In this particular blog post, I humour readers with my history of dieting. Yes, I have tried EVERY diet under the sun. I go through all the crazy fad diets I tried and why I failed. The one that allowed me to succeed was the flexible dieting approach and counting macros using My Fitness Pal (MFP). I reveal all the things that REALLY work to help you drop the weight successfully. AT NUMBER 4 (LIFESTYLE): FOOD ADDICTION AND BINGING

Admittedly, this one in particular was very personal to me. It is the first time where I admit I am someone that has suffered with B.E.D (Binge Eating Disorder) and things that really helped me recover from it. I talk a little bit about my family history with food, but more importantly, I share details of when my binge eating was at its peak; coming out of my bodybuilding shows. I even reveal EVERYTHING I consumed the day after. B.E is something that is not talked about a lot. It is so taboo because it is linked with shame and guilt. B.E is NOT something to be shameful of, so please give this a read if you can relate. AT NUMBER 3 (LIFESTYLE): MENTAL HEALTH AND ME

After the binge eating one, this is probably my most honest and open blog post. People may be surprised I have suffered in the past with my mental health and I reveal here the truth about why I really started weight training. I explain how severe stress caused mental and physical complications and the extent to which I really was in the depths of despair at one point in my life. Weight training really did save my life. You will find this an inspiring read (I hope!) Link: https://www.kostalaspt.com/post/mental-health-and-me

AT NUMBER 2 (TRAINING) HIP THRUSTS AND WHY MEN SHOULD DO THEM MORE

Admittedly, I was quite surprised with the amount of views this one got, I always thought the deadlift one would have surpassed this one. Interesting. I am hoping a few men read this too! I go through the history of where the hip thrust came from and I include 7 top tips of doing hip thrusts correctly. Hip thrusts are definitely one of my favourite exercises and I also explain different variations. At the end, I reveal my all time PB. AT NUMBER 1 (LIFESTYLE): CHARLOTTE MELVILLE MY STORY OF RECOVERY

I wasn’t surprised at all that this one made it at number one with the most reads. Charlotte is one of my best friends and she truly is one of the most inspirational females in the fitness industry you will ever meet. She was a guest writer for Kostalas Coaching. I didn’t think it right me writing about a type of eating disorder that I had never experienced. I was so happy when Charlotte agreed to write it and it was shared on many Instagram and Facebook platforms. It is the first time Charlotte has ever spoken about her Anorexia. She reveals how it started, how she recovered and now she inspires all her female clients with her wealth of knowledge and experience. A LAST NOTE OF 2021 FROM ME

I hope my blog posts have humoured you, enlightened you, educated you and helped you to improve your mind and your body. I really hope you have been excited as you woke up on Saturday mornings to see what new topic was in store for you. My only wish for 2022 is to keep helping others, whether just readers, followers or clients. I wish you all the best. Remember, YOU CHOOSE YOUR OWN FUTURE. MAKE 2022 THE YEAR YOU WANT IT TO BE.
